If you’re wondering how Pete Davidson spent his summer, the comedian has apparently been chilling and living at his old office.

In a new promo for the return of Saturday Night Live, cast members Bowen Yang and Chloe Fineman wistfully return to Studio 8H in Rockefeller Center and reminisce about their respective summers. Fineman recalls meeting her birth mother, while Yang jokes about watching all of Suits — “I don’t know what it’s about,” he quips.

At this point, Davidson appears with a bag of chips, and when the pair ask him what he’s doing, he casually replies: “Oh, my apartment’s under construction, so I’m just living here.” When Fineman warns him that only cast and hosts are allowed in the studio, he shrugs and jokes, “Ok, I’ll do that… The host thing, I’ll host.”

SNL is set to return this Saturday, Oct. 14, with Davidson hosting and Ice Spice serving as musical guest (next week, Oct. 21, Bad Bunny will pull double duty as host and musical guest). The show’s Season 49 premiere comes a little later than usual following the end of the Writers Guild of America strike in September. SNL also got a crucial blessing from the still-striking actors union, SAG-AFTRA, which noted the sketch show is a “non-dramatic production” (similar to late-night talk shows) and that members appearing on SNL as “either hosts, guests, or cast members are working under” a different contract the one the union is striking.

This Saturday’s premiere will mark Davidson’s first time hosting SNL after he served as a cast member between 2014 and 2022. He was actually supposed to host one of the final episodes of Season 48 last spring, but the WGA strike began the same week his episode was supposed to air.
