Lights up in Studio 8H: Saturday Night Live is back.

The long-running NBC sketch show is returning for season 49, with former cast member Pete Davidson set to host the season premiere Oct. 14. Davidson — who starred on SNL between 2014 and 2022 — will make his hosting debut, joined by musical guest Ice Spice.

The following week, Bad Bunny will pull double duty, hosting and performing as musical guest on the Oct. 21 episode. He previously performed on the show in February 2021.

Saturday Night Live went dark in May, after the Writers Guild of America went on strike, halting production from coast to coast. Davidson was set to host May 6, but the episode was canceled after the start of the strike. ("Of course that would happen to me," Davidson joked at the time in an appearance on The Tonight Show.) Kieran Culkin was also expected to host an episode in May, with Jennifer Coolidge headlining  the canceled season finale. Instead, the Ana de Armas episode from April 15 served as the de facto season 48 finale.

Although it halted due to the WGA strike, SNL is not in violation of the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike as the variety show is not covered by the same contract the actors' union is striking over, similar to how talk shows, game shows, and reality shows have been able to continue.

"SAG-AFTRA members appearing on Saturday Night Live either as hosts, guests, or cast members are working under the Network Code agreement, which is not a contract we are striking," the guild announced in a statement on Wednesday. "They are not in violation of SAG-AFTRA strike rules, and we support them in fulfilling their contractual obligations."

SNL also announced that the entire cast will be returning for season 49, with no cast departures. Newcomer Chloe Troast is also joining as a featured player.

SNL airs live on NBC and Peacock at 11:30 p.m. ET Saturdays.
