The Miseducation of Cameron Post star Forrest Goodluck and little-known actress Isabella Star LaBlanc have also been cast.

Following Stephen King's 1983 novel and the 1989 Mary Lambert film adaptation, the most recent Pet Sematary was released in 2019 and starred Jason Clarke, John Lithgow and Amy Seimetz.

It was directed by Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer, with reviewers dubbing the film "a radical departure" from the earlier versions.

The Paramount+ project, which is keeping its plot details under wraps for now, will act as an official prequel to the 2019 film.
