Comedian Stands Up To Alleged Rapist Weinstein
A comedian is getting support from celebrities online after she stood up to Harvey Weinstein.
Comedian Kelly Bachman took the mic earlier this week and called out Harvey Weinstein during the monthly Actor's Hour in Lower Manhattan on Wednesday night, while the former film producer and alleged rapist was in the room.
Bachman called Weinstein "the elephant in the room" and "Freddy Krueger."
While she was up there, someone told her to "shut up," but Bachman replied, "This kills at group therapy for rape survivors," and said "f--- you" directly to Weinstein.
She Took a Risk
"I didn’t know we had to bring our own Mace and rape whistles to Actor's Hour," Bachman said in the video.
"This woman called out Harvey Weinstein in person, right to his face, and I’m in love. Thank you, @bellykachman," wrote Alyssa Milano.
Nikki Glaser noted that the comedian did all this while Weinstein was right there:
"I am floored and inspired by this woman’s bravery. Weinstein was in the room."
Everyone Else Said Nothing
"Kelly Bachman and Zoe Stuckless are heroes. They stood up to the Monster HW at a comedy show. Kelly was reprimanded by the host afterwards. They stood up and did the right thing," wrote Rose McGowan, who has accused Weinstein of rape.
McGowan was also referring to Stuckless, an actress and playwright, who stood in front of where Weinstein was sitting and was clearly alarmed that no one else was saying anything.
And Bachman said later, "Mom always tells me to reject Satan, but I wish I had said more."
Weinstein's rape trial is set for January in New York City.
