People Are Sharing The "Universally Loved" TV Characters They Actually Can't Stand, And This Is Controversial As Hell
We recently asked the BuzzFeed Community which universally loved TV characters they can't stand. Here's what they had to say:
1.Gina Linetti from Brooklyn Nine-Nine
"She has a way of making everything about her, regardless of how other characters were treated, and she's rarely called out on it. The show never calls out how she harasses Terry on a regular basis, even though it explores themes like racial profiling and gender-power imbalance."
"She was so rude and self-absorbed."
2.Michael Scott from The Office
"I have so much secondhand embarrassment from him that I can’t stand it."
3.Phoebe Buffay from Friends
"I liked her at first in Season 1, but somewhere along the way, they decided her thing was being rude and horrible to everyone, and now I can't stand her. It wasn't funny to see her lying to her friends and yelling at them at full volume."
4.Andy Dwyer from Parks and Rec
"I feel like they made Andy's character way too stupid and childish. A little bit might have been charming, but they turned him into such an over-the-top idiot. It felt completely unbelievable to me."
"He had his moments that made me LOL, but overall, he was too annoying."
5.Damon Salvatore from The Vampire Diaries
"Everyone is swooning over him, but I just find him creepy. He was obsessed with Elena. Yet when they were together, the only things they did were scream that they were toxic for each other, sleep together, and then Damon would do something stupid. And then repeat."
6.Gloria Delgado-Pritchett from Modern Family
"She was so loud and obnoxious. I can't stand that character."
7.Meredith Grey from Grey's Anatomy
"Begging another woman’s husband to 'pick me, choose me, love me?' Awful."
8.Amy Santiago from Brooklyn Nine-Nine
"Her overachieving, overeager, teacher's pet thing is just obnoxious. Like, you’re an adult. Grow up."
9.Randall Pearson from This Is Us
"I liked him in the first two seasons because I related to being a sensitive perfectionist, especially feeling like an outsider sometimes. However, I didn't like him as much starting in Season 3 because I thought he was selfish, putting what he wanted to do over his own family's needs. If your spouse loses their job and you have a family of kids, you should be focusing on supporting them, not galavanting in another city, running for councilman. What made me stop watching the show for good was the end of Season 4, when he emotionally manipulated his mother into attending a clinical trial. How dare he do that, especially since he tried to use the good boy card!"
10.April Ludgate from Parks and Rec
"She was a mean-spirited bully."
11.Fran Fine from The Nanny
"She was very annoying, often crossed clearly stated rules, and did what she was specifically asked not to do. Her obvious obsession with her employer was very weird considering she met the family while they were grieving a death."
12.Stanley Hudson from The Office
"He criticizes his coworkers’ work ethic, but he frequently sits around doing crosswords all day. He acts holier than thou despite cheating on his wife. He openly disrespects his boss and has a bad attitude about almost everything. Easily my least favorite of the central characters."
13.Lady Mary Crawley from Downton Abbey
"She was horrible, mean, and petty, especially to her sister, Lady Edith."
14.Cam Tucker from Modern Family
"I just found him super annoying. He acted childish so often."
15.And finally, Jane Villanueva from Jane the Virgin
"Her ‘holier than thou' attitude really grated on me from the beginning. It came off like she could do no wrong and she was the golden child. By Season 3, I was waiting for Petra to sucker punch her!"
