People Are Sharing The Various Reasons They Walked Out Of Movies (And Spoiler: It Wasn't Because They Were Bad)

Whether you go to the movies all the time or just once in a blue moon, chances are you've probably seen at least one movie that was bad enough that you debated walking out. But sometimes, you don't have a choice in walking out of a movie.

And a redditor (who has since deleted their account) was interested in just that when they asked this question years ago on AskReddit: "Have you ever walked out of a movie? What movie? Why'd you leave?"

Thousands of people chimed in to share the movies they walked out of and, more importantly, why. Here are some of the top and best comments:

1."I went with my friend and her uncle to see Brokeback Mountain. He was an older, conservative fellow thinking he was seeing some western movie about cattle ranchers. When Jake and Heath started eye f**king each other he slowly began to realize this movie wasn’t what he thought it would be. The tipping point was when Heath bent Jake over and penetrated him, solidifying their hot and lusty cowboy love. He immediately got up and walked out. My friend and I stayed for 20 more minutes then left."

2."When I was 12, I walked out of The Ring when they showed that girl's face in the closet or whatever. Since I was crying like a bitch, the theater manager let me and my friends see Rush Hour 2. 🫤"

3."I haven't, but during the surgery scene in Prometheus, the guy sitting next to me was bent over, looking real queasy, and about to vomit all over my shoes. The movie cut away to something different, and he sat back up in his chair, looking better. Then it cuts back to all the blood, and he stumbles out of the cinema, trying not to puke into his hands over his mouth, and not really succeeding. He didn't come back."

4."Roald Dahl's The Witches. I was 3 years old and I was scared."

5."I walked out of the second LOTR movie. Went to see it on a Saturday with a friend and the place was packed. Got in early and some guy that had to have not taken a shower in a month sat next to me right before the show started. My nose was literally burning. I lasted five minutes into the movie then left. I watched it later and liked it — but DAMN, I've never smelled someone so bad in my life."

6."Jurassic Park. Little 7-year-old me couldn't handle the scene in the kitchen with the raptors."

And 2.) there were a group of teenagers shrieking like banshees when anything on the screen remotely moved, despite being told to calm down by staff, my friends and myself. I don't understand how that film series is so popular."

He spoke quietly enough to where some people didn't care, but trying to read subtitles as well as someone discussing utter nonsense was enough to make us leave. As we approached the counter to ask for a refund, the employee told us that we should have told someone sooner and had the guy ejected. I explained how having someone talk during the film and then having to exit the theater briefly to get someone kicked out ruined the experience for me. I didn't want to miss out on anything and I had already lost out on a lot of subtitled plot."

11."Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. In my ignorance I didn't know it was a musical, and 15-year-old me was not ready for a musical."
