Pensacola Police Department responds to Taylor Swift’s Destin name-drop in her new album

PENSACOLA, Fla. (WKRG) — Many people have something to say about Taylor Swift’s new album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” which dropped on Friday.

The Pensacola Police Department joined in the fun.

In a Facebook post, the department commented on the album’s release, referring to one particular track.

Swift’s new song “Florida!!!” (featuring Florence + the Machine) talks about needing a place to escape reality with lyrics like, “I need to forget, so take me to Florida / I’ve got some regrets, I’ll bury them in Florida”

In the song, Swift specifically mentions one city in Florida: Destin.

“Little did you know your home’s really only a town you’re just a guest in
So you work your life away just to pay for a timeshare down in Destin”

The PPD, however, asserted that Pensacola could be just as good of a place to escape, writing:

“Hey Taylor, nothing against Destin, but we’d welcome you to Visit Pensacola. #pensacolasfinest#ttpd#florida!!!”
