Pensacola Civic Band to perform free concert for Memorial Day celebration

PENSACOLA, Fla. (WKRG) — The Pensacola Civic Band is teaming up with Schmidt’s Music and the City of Pensacola to host the 9th annual Pensacola Memorial Day Concert, according to a release.

The concert is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Memorial Day, May 27, 2024, at the Hunter Amphitheater.

According to the release, the concert that “has become a cherished tradition in the Pensacola community, offering an opportunity to come together and pay homage to the brave individuals who have served and sacrificed for our country,” is open to the public and free of charge.

“With poignant musical performances and heartfelt tributes, the event serves as a reminder of the true meaning of Memorial Day,” the release added.

The concert will feature the 151st Army Band, Alabama National Guard as special guests.

“We are honored to once again host the Pensacola Memorial Day Concert and pay tribute to the courageous men and women who have served our country,” Pensacola Civic Band Director Doug Holsworth said. “This event holds special significance for our community, as we come together to remember and honor the sacrifices of our service members.”

Although a concert event, there will also be food truck vendors at the event beginning at noon, the release notes.

Those who wish to attend the event are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating.
