Penguin and Black Widow unveiled! The Masked Singer eliminates two more celebrity contestants

Warning: This article contains spoilers about Wednesday’s episode of The Masked Singer.

After two excruciating weeks without The Masked Singer (boo sports!), America’s favorite secret singing competition has returned with a 2-hour special — meaning two cloaked contenders will be eliminated and unmasked tonight.

In the first hour, the Penguin came up cold in their bid to become the show’s emperor. And in the second hour, Black Widow got trapped in their own web.

Penguin performed alongside Rottweiler, Ladybug, Tree, Flower, and Fox on Wednesday. As always, judges Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger, and Ken Jeong presided over the competition, with host Nick Cannon as the night’s emcee. There was even a special appearance by former NSYNC member Joey Fatone, who competed as Rabbit on the show last season.

First on stage was Rottweiler (“Love Runs Out” by OneRepublic), followed by Ladybug (“Juice” by Lizzo), Tree (“Think” by Aretha Franklin), Penguin (“All About That Bass” by Meghan Trainor), Flower (“Cheap Thrills” by Sia), and Fox (“Hey Look Ma, I Made It” by Panic at the Disco).

As they did on the last episode, the performers all got to shine on stage before the judges and audience members voted for their favorite. And even though Penguin showed off her happy feet and fabulous voice, it wasn’t enough to top the other challengers.

Thus, Penguin was sent back to Antarctica. She was revealed to be Sherri Shepherd, actress, comedian, and former co-host of The View. She currently stars on the sitcoms Man With a Plan and Mr. Iglesias.

In the second hour, black-ish star Anthony Anderson joined the judges’ panel. First to perform was Black Widow (“Believe” by Cher), followed by Thingamajig (“Ain’t Too Proud to Beg” by The Temptations), Butterfly (“Don’t Know Why” by Norah Jones), Leopard (“Teenage Dream” by Katy Perry), and Flamingo (“Never Enough” by Loren Allred from The Greatest Showman).

Black Widow’s rendition of the classic Cher tune was excellent, but it wasn’t enough to stand out in a night that had some of the judges’ favorite performances of the entire series.

The voters sent Black Widow home, but not before unmasking her true identity as actress Raven-Symoné.

She currently stars on Disney Channel’s Raven’s Home, a spinoff of That’s So Raven. Symone was also featured in the network’s Cheetah Girls franchise, as well as TV shows like Black-ish and The View. An accomplished vocalist, the 33-year-old has released four studio albums.

Some of Black Widow’s most telling hints throughout the season were the Georgia peach, her “squeaky clean image,” and the on-stage crackers and whip cream clue this week — Symone appeared in ads for Ritz crackers and Cool Whip as a child. Solved!

Penguin and Black Widow join other eliminated celebrities Paul Shaffer, Dr. Drew Pinsky, Laila Ali, Johnny Weir, and Tyler Blevins, a.k.a. Ninja.
