Discovery+’s Peltz Beckham vs. The Wedding Planners premiered on December 11, 2023, and is now available to stream on Max. The documentary unravels the legal drama between the Peltz family and the wedding planners after Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz’s “celebrity wedding of the year” in 2022.

According to the New York Post, Nicola’s billionaire father, Nelson Peltz, filed a lawsuit against Plan Design Events (PDE) in December 2022. Nelson is suing the wedding planners for a $159,000 deposit he made before firing wedding planners Nicole Braghin and Arianna Grijalba in nine days. He is also demanding a return of the same amount.

However, the Miami-based Braghin and Grijalba then filed a countersuit. They argued that their nine days of work required compensation, and thus, they did not return the $159,000 deposit.

The documentary attempts to put forth both sides of the story and also highlights the complications of the wedding. An expert even terms Nicola Peltz as a “nightmare bride.”

Nicola Peltz documentary: Peltz Beckham vs. The Wedding Planners breaks down legal drama

Discovery+’s Nicola Peltz documentary Peltz Beckham vs. The Wedding Planners terms her a “nightmare bride” and also looks into the legal drama that followed her “celebrity wedding of the year” to Brooklyn Beckham in 2022. The Post reported that Nicola and Brooklyn tied the knot at the former’s multimillion-dollar family home in Palm Beach, Florida, in April 2022. But the wedding preparations were far from perfect.

Nicola and her parents, Nelson and Claudia Peltz, had hired famed wedding planner Preston Bailey for the production. However, the planner backed out about six weeks ahead of the ceremony. Bailey later explained his reasons to Page Six, claiming that he decided to quit the project 11 months into it because he “overcommitted” and “couldn’t deliver to the quality I was used to.”

Nelson Peltz then approached Plan Design Events (PDE), run by Braghin and Grijalba, six weeks before the wedding. Per the documentary, PDE only worked on Nicola and Brooklyn’s wedding for nine days before Nelson fired them. That same year, in December, he also filed a lawsuit against the company, demanding a return of the $159,000 security deposit. In the lawsuit, he also alleged that Braghin and Grijalba “hoodwinked” him into believing they could handle a wedding of this stature.

Following Nelson’s lawsuit, PDE’s Braghin and Grijalba filed a countersuit against the billionaire. They argued that they did not return the $159,000 deposit because their nine work days required compensation. In their countersuit, the duo called Nelson a “billionaire bully” and provided at least 150 pages of supporting evidence, including screenshots of text messages.

These screenshots and other revelations made in the documentary painted Nicola Peltz as a “nightmare bride.” An expert alleged that she focused too much on a star-studded guest list and brought “total carnage” to the wedding preparations.

Nicola Peltz documentary claims the Peltz family hid wedding planning drama from Victoria Beckham

According to the Post, the documentary also revealed that the Peltz family hid the wedding planning drama from Victoria Beckham. The countersuit said, “Both Claudia and Nicola had insisted that Victoria Beckham (Brooklyn’s mother) could not know” about the mistakes made. The first episode also depicted Nicola as being “obsessed” with the celebrity status of her wedding due to the Beckhams.

The Nicola Peltz documentary also highlighted that she did not have a celebrity status before her relationship with Brooklyn Beckham. As an actress, she has played small roles in Old and Holidate. She is also making her directorial debut in Lola, which debuts in February 2024.

Moreover, the parties involved in the legal dispute successfully reached a settlement in September this year. Both parties shared a joint statement via the latest documentary, “The parties believe that this contract dispute between Nelson Peltz and Plan Design should be resolved on the terms agreed.

It further said, “As part of the settlement, PDE will make a donation in the name of Nicola and Brooklyn to the CARE Ukraine Crisis Fund. PDE wishes Nicola and Brooklyn Peltz Beckham happiness and a fruitful life together.”
