The actor who was scorched in the media for gifting his wife a Peloton bike in the company's polarizing commercial just did the exact same in real life...gifted his real girlfriend an exercise bike! Wait...he did what?!
"Here’s hoping this goes over better the second time...Merry Christmas to my actual girlfriend (pls don’t leave me)" Sean Hunter posted on Instagram.
The actor shared a photo of himself posted alongside his GF sitting on a brand new Peloton. In the photo, the bike has a bright red bow on it and the couple is smiling ear to ear.
Give His Real GF A Peloton!
As you know, Hunter was featured in the holiday Peloton commercial where he gifts his wife an exercise bike. Many were quick to point out the flaws in the commercial, including criticism for being sexist and culturally insensitive.Of course, the company responded to his post, saying, "Looks like a successful Christmas gift to us! We hope you love it, and we’re so glad you’re a part of the Peloton family!" Of course, they did.
Actor Defends Himself Against Backlash
The Canadian elementary school teacher defended himself in several interviews after the ad went viral.
“I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. My 5 seconds of air time created an array of malicious feedback that is all associated with my face. My friend texted me today declaring that I’m ‘a symbol of the patriarchy,’” Hunter said.
He continued, “As my face continues to be screenshot online, I wonder what repercussions will come back to me.”
Fans Defend The Actor Online
The actor also told 'Good Morning America,' "People turned down a pretty dark path and it turned into a nasty thing. Once something goes viral ... people jump on that negative bandwagon and start to create any dialogue they want.”
Interestingly, many responded to his post supporting him and his Christmas gift.
"But did she actually aaaaaask for it???😂😂😂 Totally joking, best wishes for both of you and it sounds like you’re going to be just fine dude. Merry Christmas," one person wrote.
Another added, "Welcome to our Pelofamily!! Nothing wrong with loving yourself and taking care of yourself!!"
