Pelicans Reactions: New Orleans routs shorthanded Lakers behind Ingram

The Pelicans controlled Tuesday’s game from start to finish against the Lakers, winning comfortably on the night, 128-111.

After a back-and-forth first quarter, the Pelicans took control in the second period to open up a 13-point lead by halftime. Brandon Ingram exploded in the third quarter to put the game to rest, scoring 17 points in the period as part of his 36-point effort on the night.

The lead peaked at 30 points for the Pelicans in the second half as the result was never in doubt over the final three periods. Zion Williamson tallied 27 points in the victory while Kira Lewis Jr. had 16 points off the bench.

Josh Hart finished with a unique stat line of two points, 15 rebounds, five assists and five steals in 27 minutes off the bench.

The Good: Brandon Ingram

Few Pelicans fans would have been mocked for having a nervous feeling about Tuesday's game. Even this season, New Orleans has dropped some head-scratching games. Ingram, though, ensured there would be no letdown. After a strong first half, Ingram exploded in the third quarter with 17 points to put the game to rest. He finished the night shooting 14-of-21 from the field, 4-of-6 from the 3-point line and 4-of-4 at the free throw line for his 36 points.

The Bad: Injuries

It's a bit of a copout and the Pelicans surely won't complain but injuries took the excitement ut of this game. Last season, the Pelicans and Lakers had some fun battles with LeBron James and Anthony Davis squaring off with Ingram and Williamson. Fans were robbed of that excitement due to recent injuries from Davis and James as well as Lonzo Ball being sidelined.

Lonzo Ball: Out of action, in trade rumors

Ball wasn't active for a second game in a row but continues to find himself in the middle of trade rumors.
