Marvel Studios announced the top cast for of the upcoming "Fantastic Four" movie with a Valentine's Day theme card on social media Wednesday.

Those four heroes will include Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Susan Storm/The Invisible Woman, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing and Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/The Human Torch.

Pascal, who spent much of his childhood in San Antonio after immigrating to the United States from Denmark after seeking political asylum from his native Chile, will be the fifth person to play the role of Richards in a movie. Here's a look back at who else has played the character:

John Krasinski last played Mr. Fantastic in 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness'

Krasinski's small role as Richards may end up being his only time in the role. He said his involvement took a day and that there were no other talks for him to continue the role.

Spoiler: His character is killed in an alternative universe in the movie.

Miles Teller was Mr. Fantastic in last 'Fantastic Four' movie

The 2015 "Fantastic Four" film starred Miles Teller as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Kata Mara as Susan Storm/The Invisible Woman, Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm/The Thing and Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm/The Human Torch.

Teller said back in 2014 that the humanity of the characters appealed to him.

"When I read the script, I didn't feel like I was reading this larger-than-life, incredible superhero tale," he explained. "These are all very human people that end up having to become I guess what is known as the Fantastic Four. So for me it was just a really good story and gives me an opportunity to play something different from my own skin. It's a proper character and that's my favorite stuff to do."

Ioan Gruffudd was Mr. Fantastic alongside Chris Evans as The Torch

In the early 2000s, Ioan Gruffudd played Mr. Fantastic in the 2005 "Fantastic Four" film and it's 2007 sequel, "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer."

Gruffudd said he felt fortunate to get the chance to reprise the character in the follow-up movie.

"It was a great pleasure, primarily because Mr. Fantastic has evolved from being the character that we established in the first one, the scientist, the sort of nerdy character," Gruffudd said. "He's really much more like Mr. Fantastic in the comic books in this movie. He's become the natural leader of the 'Fantastic Four.' So it was a lot more fun to play him."

The two films starred Gruffudd as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Jessica Alba as Susan Storm/The Invisible Woman, Michael Chiklis as Ben Grimm/The Thing and Chris Evans (long before he was Captain America) as Johnny Storm/The Human Torch.

First Fantastic Four movie was never released

In 1994, the "Fantastic Four" story attempted to be brought to the screen but was ultimately halted, likely due to concerns over a low-budget movie's effect on the comic book franchise.

The movie's producer, Bernd Eichinger, was later brought in to produce the 2005 and 2007 movies.

The unreleased version stars Alex Hyde-White as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Rebecca Staab as Susan Storm/The Invisible Woman, Michael Bailey Smith as Ben Grimm/The Thing and Jay Underwood as Johnny Storm/The Human Torch.

When does new Fantastic Four movie come out?

In Marvel Studio's cast announcement, they also shared the movie is planned to come to theaters on July 25, 2025.
