The actor paid tribute to friend Willem Dafoe at the latter's Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony on Monday.

Pedro Pascal went a little off script with a funny memory while paying tribute to his "greatest teacher," Willem Dafoe, at Dafoe's Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony on Monday.

Before the Poor Things star officially accepted his star on the Hollywood landmark, Pascal, who worked with the four-time Oscar nominee in 2017’s The Great Wall, said in his remarks, "I'm gonna go off book just for a second: I saw Platoon in the movie theater with my father and [Dafoe] made me cry so hard my dad sent me to the bathroom. This was 1986. I was like 10 years old — and I still wanted to be an actor."

The star of The Last of Us continued of Dafoe, "He redefines the concept of rebel and originality by making it about generosity, integrity, kindness, and fun. Willem is a good time and an amazing friend."

Pascal went on to recall working on The Great Wall and being taken out to dinner for his birthday by Dafoe and Dafoe's wife, Giada Colagrande. "It was the warmest introduction into a world I'd spent my life admiring and learning from. He has been my greatest teacher," Pascal said.

Pascal concluded his tribute by calling Dafoe "the greatest American actor in our lifetime."

"You cannot compare his career to anyone’s, truthfully. So it is our fortune to have him and I personally am forever grateful,” Pascal said.

Also on hand for the ceremony was Patricia Arquette — who also toasted Dafoe on stage, jokingly calling him "the Pope of Hollywood" — and Mark Ruffalo, Wim Wenders, Guillermo Del Toro, Ramy Youssef, Camila Morrone, Colagrande, Walter Hill, and Sean Baker.
