If Pearl Jam’s surprise-filled setlist from the opening show of their 2023 tour didn’t already suggest a special run was incoming, they confirmed it on night two with a bust-out of Pink Floyd’s “Brain Damage” for the first time since 2010.

On Saturday, Pearl Jam hosted their second consecutive concert at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota and delivered the long-dormant cover mid-set. As Vedder began to play the song’s opening notes, he laughed and said offhandedly “I’m losing my mind,” but gathered himself up quite well to perform a haunting, solo rendition before leading into the band’s 2002 single, “I Am Mine.” Watch fan-captured footage of “Brain Damage” below.

Elsewhere in the set, the band dusted off 2006’s “Severed Hand” and 2009’s “Got Some,” both for the first time in five years. They also covered Tom Petty’s “I Won’t Back Down” and closed the show with a run-through of Prince’s “Purple Rain” featuring accompaniment from the tour’s opener, Jessica Dobson of Deep Sea Diver.

Pearl Jam will continue to trek across the US through September, spending multiple nights in Chicago; Fort Worth, Texas; and Austin. Grab last-minute tickets to their upcoming shows here.
