New Peanuts special, 'Snoopy Presents: One-of-a-Kind Marcie,' highlights Patty's sidekick

Cerebral, thoughtful and mysterious behind those opaque glasses, Marcie is the Peanuts character who addresses her friend Peppermint Patty as "sir."

AppleTV+ released a trailer today for "Snoopy Presents: One-of-a-Kind Marcie," which arrives Aug. 18 on the streaming site. It will follow Marcie, the "lovable introvert," as she copes with her surprise election to the role of class president.

It's being billed as Marcie's first-ever special.

Marcie takes the lead role in the new AppleTV+ special "Snoopy Presents: One-of-a-Kind Marcie," which debuts August 18, 2023.

In the special, Marcie is thrust into the spotlight with her unexpected victory. As she faces the pressures of leading the class, she also is supposed to be multitasking as Peppermint Patty's caddie for the school golf competition.

Marcie, who made her debut in the Peanuts strip in 1971, has always been a problem-solver and reasonable influence. But it comes at a cost. "If I were president, I'd never have a moment of peace," says the introvert in the preview to the special.

"Snoopy Presents: One-of-a-Kind Marcie" even offers a smidgen of commentary on America's current political scene — maybe.

Referring to another class president candidate, Patty asks, "Who on earth voted for Pig Pen?" Replies Marcie, "I just thought he ran a clean campaign."
