Peaky Blinders fans can finally start looking forward to the sixth series of the BBC’s popular Birmingham gangster caper.

Season five ended on something of a cliffhanger, and fans will be eager to see what is going on with Tommy Shelby and his gang.

Now excitement levels can start to ramp up, with confirmation from show director Anthony Byrne the first episode of the new season has a title and is in pre-production.

Byrne recently posted on social media an image of the production script.

Exciting.

The last episode of season five saw Tommy, played with charming menace by Cillian Murphy, on the brink of suicide after he was betrayed as he attempted to assassinate infamous British Union of Fascists leader Oswald Mosley, played by Hunger Games star Sam Claflin.

The gritty show, based in inter-war Britain, has become a firm favourite amongst TV fans across the world, and according to creator Steven Knight, there are no plans to end the show just yet.

In October he told Entertainment Weekly the show will run “until the first air raid siren of the Second World War”.

“Then it will be a true story of a family between the wars. That will involve season 6 and season 7,” he said.

“I’m pretty close to completing season 6 in terms of scripts, and then we’ll shoot that, and then I will embark on season 7.

“And then, if the energy is still continuing to grow, and the feeling around the world is still so positive, then we’ll think about how the story can continue in other forms.”
