PBS, Politico to Host December Democratic Presidential Debate in LA
The Democratic National Committee announced Friday the sixth Democratic presidential debate will take place Dec. 19 at UCLA in Los Angeles.
It will be co-hosted by PBS News Hour and Politico.

Politico released the criteria debate hopefuls will need to meet before the qualification deadline on Dec. 12. Candidates will need to hit 4% support in at least four DNC-approved polls of national primary voters or in early-voting states. They can also qualify by reaching 6% in two approved early-state polls with a minimum of 800 donors in 20 states, territories or Washington, D.C.
Only five candidates — former vice president Joe Biden, Mayor Pete Buttigieg and Senators Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren and Kamala Harris — have routinely polled above 4% in approved surveys so far.

CNN drew 8.3 million viewers for 2019’s fourth Democratic debate this month. That was the lowest tally thus far in the race leading up to the 2020 presidential election and was CNN’s second debate of the ongoing cycle — its first one took place over two nights at the end of July. Night 1 of July’s two-parter got 8.7 million total viewers, 8.6 million of which came on actual CNN. Spanish-language sister channel CNN en Español added the other small portion back then. During the fourth debate, baseball aired on CNN en Español instead.
