PBS to give 'Downton Abbey' fans a closer look at aristocracy in special

Season 2 of the addictive Downton Abbey premieres Jan. 8 (check local listings), but PBS is hoping fans will keep another date in mind: On Jan. 22, it will air a one-hour special, Secrets of the Manor House, which is a described as a nonfiction look into the lives of British aristocracy during the early 1900s. Fingers crossed we hear about sex, scandals, and someone with as biting a tongue as Maggie Smith’s Violet Crawley.

According to PBS, the first season of Downton Abbey was the third-most watched Masterpiece program in the last 22 years.
