Pauly Shore says he was 'up all night crying' over Richard Simmons' disapproval of his biopic casting

"Who’s better to play you in a movie than ME? Leonardo DiCaprio’s not gonna play you. Brad Pitt’s not gonna play you. I’m perfect."

Richard Simmons does not approve of Pauly Shore's casting in an upcoming biopic about his life, and Shore is taking it pretty hard.

Shore said he was "up all night crying" over Simmons' recent tweet expressing disapproval. In a lengthy Instagram post shared late Thursday, Shore offered to bring a bowl of warm matzo ball soup and a "pastrami sandwich with dark mustard from Canters" to Simmons' home to pitch the upcoming film from writer Jordan Allen-Dutton.

"Richard, how do you not approve of this movie?" Shore wrote. "I mean, really, who’s better to play you in a movie than ME? Leonardo DiCaprio’s not gonna play you. Brad Pitt’s not gonna play you. I’m perfect. Everyone already thinks I’m you. We’re the same. Beautiful, inside and out."

He continued: "Richard, you haven’t even heard the pitch," adding that he'd be happy to give Simmons a foot massage "and we can listen to the writer, Jordan Allen-Dutton, pitch you our idea?"

Shore assured the workout guru that his iteration would be "the most beautiful cinematic masterpiece that’s going to honor you in a way that you’ll drop to your knees and cry with joy and happiness," and he finds it "amazing" that he's in talks with studios himself to develop a biopic about his life. "The more movies about you, the better! You deserve it. There should be hundreds made."

"Mine is going to turn out amaze-balls," he added. "So... let me know when you want me to come over with yummy food from Canters, and Jordan and I will pitch you in your living room."

Shore previously played Simmons in writer and director  Jake Lewis' short The Court Jester, which premiered at Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. News of a feature film biopic with Shore and Warner Bros. subsidiary The Wolper Organization came shortly after.

The private Simmons has been vocal about his disapproval of Shore's iteration, sharing on Facebook earlier this year that he never gave permission for it and telling PEOPLE this week that it "does not have my blessing."

"Some major studios are interested with me being involved in MY story. Who should play me? Tom Cruise lol," Simmons said via his publicist Tom Estey.
