Paula Patton wants no part of this “home-wrecking” narrative.

After it was revealed that her new boyfriend is still legally married, those close to the actress are attempting to quash rumors that she was the reason that Zach Quittman left his wife.

“[Zach] was separated when they began dating,” one insider swears to Yahoo Entertainment. “[The separation] may have been fresh, but he and his wife weren’t together.”

Patton’s new love even gave an interview to People magazine maintaining that he had been separated “for a while.”

“We were totally separated before I moved on,” he told the magazine. “Obviously there’s three sides to every story and I’m not pointing the finger or saying anyone’s wrong, but we were definitely separated before I moved on.”

Quittman is a real estate agent in Malibu, Calif., where gossip about one’s personal life is as common as a celebrity sighting. “Let’s just say eyebrows are raised about the timeline of all of this,” counters one local.

Page Six reports that Quittman’s wife was blindsided by the new coupling, as the pair — who share two children — aren’t legally separated. “He doesn’t even have his stuff out of the house,” a source claimed. Our Malibu insider reiterates this, saying many are “surprised.”

Yahoo reached out to a rep for Patton but did not immediately receive a response.

The 42-year-old actress is currently promoting her new film, Traffik, and has zero intention of hiding her new relationship. Despite whispers and social media backlash, she and Quittman are flaunting their love around New York.

On Thursday, Robin Thicke’s ex-wife stopped by the Today show, where Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb remarked about how happy she looked.

“Well, because I’m in love!” Patton beamed. “This is my first boyfriend since I’ve been divorced, and I don’t know, I just … I love him and I’m happy.”

The camera cut to Quittman, who gave a smile and a wave.

“He makes me calmer,” Patton added.

Patton revealed that she was in a new relationship earlier this week. “I have a boyfriend now,” she told Extra TV. “I haven’t called anybody a boyfriend. He’s my boyfriend!”

Patton said they had been dating for “a month.” She added, “But when you know, you know. I love him.”

She also hinted at how the two met: “If you have a kid and you have a basketball game, look at the daddies. It’s kind of a suburban romance. He’s got kids, I got a kid. It’s one of those!”

Patton shares her 8-year-old son, Julian, with Thicke. Part of the reason Twitter was quick to rush to judgment on her new BF was because she accused the “Blurred Lines” singer of cheating on her. In shocking court documents last year, Patton accused Thicke of infidelity, physical and emotional abuse, and substance abuse issues.

Thicke, 41, and Patton split in 2014 after nine years of marriage and over two decades together. The high school sweethearts have just one son, but to say their custody arrangement has been contentious is an understatement. However, the singer has happily moved on in his personal life. He and his girlfriend, April Love Geary, welcomed a baby girl in February.
