Watch Paul Thomas Anderson’s Latest Work: Haim’s ‘Right Now’ Music Video (Video)

Paul Thomas Anderson’s followup to “Inherent Vice,” a London-set fashion drama starring Daniel Day-Lewis, doesn’t open until Christmas.

To satiate his fans, the Oscar-nominated director made a surprise collaboration ahead of that film’s release: a music video for Haim’s new single, “Right Now.”

The song is the lead song off the band’s sophomore album “Something to Tell You,” which arrives July 7, four years after 2013’s hit record “Days Are Gone.” Anderson’s video is one long take of a live studio recording of the single.

The “There Will Be Blood” filmmaker has dabbled in music videos before: He collaborated with Radiohead on three videos for songs off “A Moon Shaped Pool,” and has previously directed videos for Fiona Apple, Aimee Mann and Joanna Newsom.

As it turns out, Anderson has personal history with the Haim family: in an Apple Music interview, the Haim sisters shared that their mom was once his school-teacher.

Anderson’s second film with Day-Lewis, who won a best actor Oscar for “There Will Be Blood,” has yet to be titled. “The new movie is a drama set in the couture world of 1950s London,” a Focus spokesperson said of the project in February. “The story illuminates the life behind the curtain of an uncompromising dressmaker commissioned by royalty and high society.”

Focus Features will open the film in early December before a nationwide rollout January 9.
