Paul Molitor gets three-year extension after Twins' surprising playoff run
The Minnesota Twins and Paul Molitor still had one piece of unfinished business after their surprising run to the 2017 postseason. Molitor, the Hall of Famer who was in his third year as Twins skipper, didn’t have a contract beyond this season.
That changed Monday, as the Twins and Molitor agreed to a new three-year contract that will keep him in the manager’s office until the end of the 2020 season.

It’s a pleasant turn of events for Molitor, who some considered to be on the hot seat entering 2017. His team lost 103 games last year, but rebounded magically. They won 85 games and made it to the AL wild-card game, the first team to lose 100 games and make the postseason the very next year.
The Twins couldn’t get past the Yankees in the wild-card game, but they showed that the future is bright in Minnesota. New contract in hand, there’s a chance that Molitor finds himself deeper in the postseason with the Twins in short order.
