Paul McCartney Drives A C5 Corvette

A little-known fact is that musical superstar Sir Paul McCartney drives a blue C5 Corvette convertible whenever he’s visiting California. The man has owned the American sports car since it was new and it looks to have been impeccably maintained.

Ayrton Senna’s old Honda NSX is for sale and the price will make you choke.

The musician was spotted leaving a music studio in the Los Angeles area recently while behind the wheel of his trusty ‘Vette. While a crowd of fans gathered to watch him leave, someone got their phone out and started filming the departure.

We’ve included footage of Paul McCartney driving through the gate in his C5 Corvette and waving at fans. He keeps the top up for obvious reasons.

Undoubtedly, McCartney enjoys the simple pleasure of his American sports car. Such a ride isn’t flashy at all, so it probably helps the celebrity blend in quite nicely with traffic in California. We bet quite a few people have passed him by on the road, never suspecting who is piloting the convertible.

People seem surprised McCartney would drive a C5 Corvette. Some think he should drive something newer and nicer. Others apparently pictured he would be in a nice British sedan, like a Jaguar.

We think this might indicate McCartney is a bit of a gearhead and appreciates American performance machines. And what better place to enjoy them than in America?

The other thing people are debating in the Instagram post of the video is whether or not this C5 has a manual or automatic transmission. Some firmly believe McCartney would only drive stick, while others seem to believe he favors the convenience of an automatic.

We noted as he pauses by the camera there’s a shift boot in the center console, so we’re pretty sure it’s the six-speed manual. If so, then there’s little doubt McCartney is a gearhead and that’s cool.
