'The Batman' Is Coming

If you're feeling any superhero fatigue, too bad! They're going to keep making superhero movies until the sun burns out and the universe goes black. Although it initially felt rather unnecessary because we just had a new Batman in Batman Vs. Superman and Justice League, The Batman is actually shaping up into an interesting project. Coming from director Matt Reeves, who helmed the rebooted Planet of the Apes franchise, The Batman will feature Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, a controversial but honestly inspired choice.

His Antagonists Are Lined Up

The cast is also fleshing out nicely, with Westworld's Jeffrey Wright taking on the role of Commissioner Gordon and Zoë Kravitz boarding the project to play Catwoman. Initially, it was reported that Jonah Hill was in talks for a villain role, however the deal ended up falling through.

The latest casting news for The Batman is another unexpected but perfect choice: Paul Dano as The Riddler.

Dano Is Perfect

The Hollywood Reporter explains that The Batman will feature a wide cast of Batman's classic rogues gallery, so more are sure to follow Catwoman and The Riddler.

Dano was recently nominated for an Emmy for his performance in the limited series Escape At Dannemora and is known for films like There Will Be Blood, Little Miss Sunshine, Okja, and Ruby Sparks. He also directed his first feature film, Wildlife, which was met with critical acclaim.

If you want to get a good idea of the kind of menace that Dano will bring to Edward Nygma, watch his terrifying performance in Prisoners. The guy's got the range.
