SAG award-winning actress Dagmara Domińczyk met husband Patrick Wilson when they were both drama students, years before either of them had a big break in Hollywood.

Domińczyk made her feature debut in 2000 in the Edward Norton-directed romantic comedy Keeping The Faith, and she later got her first recurring TV role a year later on the crime drama Third Watch.

Wilson got his start on the stage, making his Broadway debut in The Full Monty in 2000, which earned him a Tony nomination for his work as Jerry Lukowski. He also made a splash in 2003 in HBO’s Angels In America, earning critical acclaim.

The Hollywood couple tied the knot in 2005 and have since welcomed two children, Kalin Patrick and Kassian McCarrell. They also share three dogs.

In 2006, Domińczyk and Wilson got to work together on the film Running With Scissors, an adaptation of an Augusten Burroughs memoir.

Despite both being actors, the couple won't spoil each other on what’s going on in their respective projects. Domińczyk — who played Karolina Novotney, the head of PR at fictional company Waystar Royco, on HBO’s Succession — told Vanity Fair that she never let Wilson know about how the series ended, instead letting him watch it as it aired.

“My husband never wants to know,” she said.

So who is Patrick Wilson's wife? Here's everything to know about Succession actress Dagmara Domińczyk and her relationship with the Insidious actor.

She emigrated from Poland

Domińczyk was born on July 17, 1986, in Kielce, Poland, to Aleksandra and Mirosław Domińczyk. She’s the oldest of three girls.

In 1983, Domińczyk, her sister Marika and their parents emigrated from Poland to the United States, where they settled down in New York City. Her parents then had another daughter, Veronika.

Her family came to the U.S. as asylum seekers due to her father's involvement with Amnesty International and the Solidarity movement.

Domińczyk’s father sadly died when she was shooting for the Succession series finale, in which Logan Roy, the Roy family patriarch, dies. She reflected on the experience in an interview with Rolling Stone, comparing her father to Logan Roy.

“Our very last day, two days before I showed up to set, my own father — who is, I would say, a gentler, kinder Logan Roy, in the fact that he's been the biggest presence and force in my whole entire life for me and my sisters, this really one-of-a-kind human being — suddenly died at 69. And we found out through a phone call from a person we'd never met. He was in Poland at the time,” she said.

She also compared her father to Brian Cox, the actor who plays Logan Roy, saying: “My dad was very affectionate. Brian's very affectionate.”

Domińczyk is outspoken about her Polish heritage and proud of her roots.

“I was raised in a Polish home, spent all my summers in Poland, but I used it to my advantage. In Poland, I felt different – in a good way. In the U.S., I decided to own my ‘Polishness.’ I never hid it and I never felt embarrassed of it,” she told Variety in 2022.

She isn’t the only actress in her family

Domińczyk is the oldest of three sisters, all of whom are in the acting business.

Her younger sister, Marika Domińczyk, is an actress who’s starred in shows like Grey’s Anatomy, Whiskey Cavalier, and most recently, HBO’s Barry.

Marika, like her older sister, is also married to a fellow actor: Scott Foley.

The youngest of the Domińczyk sisters, Veronika, has also dabbled in acting, making appearances in shows like Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, Nurse Jackie and It Could Be Worse.

Despite living in different states and countries, the Domińczyk sisters share a close bond.

“Leaving my #sisters is always hard…,” Marika wrote in a 2020 Instagram post, tagging both of her sisters during a visit where the three of them got together for the holidays.

“Can’t wait till we are all on the #samecoast again,” she added.

Acting isn’t Domińczyk’s only form of creative expression. She’s also a writer who keeps up with a personal blog on Tumblr and is a published author.

In 2013, her debut novel, The Lullaby of Polish Girls, was published by Spiegel & Grau, an imprint of Penguin Random House. The novel follows the lives of three friends over the course of their youth in Poland to their adulthood in different places, physically and metaphorically.

It was inspired by Domińczyk’s own upbringing, with one of the main characters having a similar backstory of immigrating to New York from Poland because of their parent’s association with the Solidarity movement.

In an interview with Female First, Domińczyk spoke about her love for writing and reading and how it informed her life.

“Writing was my first love, way before theatre and films came into play,” she said. “Coming to a foreign country as a child, one becomes very aware early on about the significance of language and communication. Books were my saviors, growing up."

Domińczyk also commented on her inspiration behind the novel, saying: “I spent my summers in Poland from when I was 12 to about 22. Those summer vacations impacted me hugely. I saw the other world I was a part of, I met new friends, held on to old ones.”

Domińczyk has also narrated a number of audiobooks, including Every Note Played by The New York Times best-selling author Lisa Genova.

She studied acting for years

A classically trained actor, Domińczyk attended a performing arts high school in N.Y.C. before studying drama at Carnegie Mellon.

She went to Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School in Manhattan, a school that boasts other notable alumni, including Sarah Paulson, Timotheé Chalamet and Jennifer Aniston.

It was at Carnegie Mellon that she met her husband too.

Though Domińczyk graduated in 1998, and Wilson graduated a few years earlier in 1995, they still had time to become acquainted at the prestigious arts school while they were both students.

Domińczyk and Wilson lost touch after school, but they reconnected in 2004 and felt an instant spark, which led them to tie the knot just a year later on June 18, 2005.

On their 13th anniversary, Domińczyk shared a photo of herself on her wedding day, crouched down and smoking a cigarette.

“Just a classy bride on her wedding day. Hey, @patrickwilson73 - I quit smoking but I’ll never quit you. That’s a FACT, as our youngest son would say. KOCHAM CIĘ. Happy Anniversary. ❤️,” she wrote.

A year later, Wilson shared a throwback photo of himself and Domińczyk casually dressed, standing with his arm around her.

“14 or so years ago. Before selfies. Before kids. Just you and me and an old timey ship. I’ll sail away with you anywhere. My oh my, how I love you. Happy Anniversary @Dagword ❤️, ” he wrote.

Domińczyk and Wilson are parents to two sons: Kalin and Kassian.

Their first son, Kalin Patrick Wilson, was born on June 23, 2006. The couple’s second son, Kassian McCarrell Wilson, was born on Aug. 9, 2010.

Their kids have followed in their acting footsteps, with their youngest, Kassian, starring in the Fox cop drama series Prodigal Son.

In an interview with Steve Adubato, Domińczyk and Wilson shared that they directed their children in the school plays at their elementary school for four years.

“We’ve encouraged it — if they want to pursue any art: acting, theater, dance,” Domińczyk said. “I feel like nowadays kids are so on their phones that ... art is the last remaining way to connect with humans.”

In April 2024, Kal, who will play football for Bowdoin College in the fall, signed his first modeling contract with DT Model Management in Los Angeles.

There’s no pressure on set as actors can shoot the same scene multiple times,” Kal said in a statement to PEOPLE. “I find the process is the same with fashion shoots.”

“We’re so excited for Kal to embark on this journey. He’s got the heart, the brains — and maybe we’re biased — but he’s also got the beauty," Domińczyk said, while Wilson added, "From football player to fashion model, we are so proud of Kal for continuing to carve out his own path."

They have three dogs together

Domińczyk and Wilson aren’t just parents to their kids, but pet parents too. The couple share three dogs: Mabel, Louise and Eddie Van Wilson.

A true animal lover, Wilson never neglects a chance to post their dogs for social media holidays like “Love Your Pet Day” and “International Dogs Day.” Domińczyk also shows her love for their dogs in other ways, like knitting them sweaters to wear.

While they were pet parents to just two pups for a while, in 2020, they added a third dog to the mix.

“Merry Christmas from all of us Wilsons...including this new guy, Mr. Eddie Van Wilson. Named by my kids...but I didn’t object,” Wilson wrote on Instagram, sharing a photo of himself and Domińczyk holding a golden puppy with a curly coat of fur, adding the hashtags “#becausetwodogsarentenough” and “#quarantinepuppy.”

“Well. We did it. We got ourselves a quarantine puppy. Officially outnumbered by canines now, just in time for Christmas,” Domińczyk wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter), sharing the same photo.

The third puppy’s name was inspired by Wilson’s love for the late musician Eddie Van Halen, which he passed down to his sons. In 2012, Wilson spoke to PEOPLE about his love for Van Halen, admitting he was in a family cover band with his brothers, called The Wilson Van.
