EXCLUSIVE: Patrick Warburton will star in and produce The Unearthly, an indie blending elements of sci-fi, comedy and horror that will go into production in Connecticut early this year. Directing the pic for Centerboro Productions is Josh Sternfeld (Fortress: Sniper’s Eye).

In The Unearthly, a team of paranormal investigators live-stream a “Halloween Special” ghost hunt of a notorious haunted mansion, finding the source of the evil at hand to be far more deadly than they ever could have imagined. Warburton plays Tank McCrary, an old school paranormal investigator in the style of Ed Warren and Peter James, who hosted over 20 live television specials in the ’90s before an incident ruined his career. Stubborn and egotistical, he likes to do things his way. He doesn’t trust technology, relying on his analog tape recorder, archaic EMF meter, and his own smarts in his ghost hunting. His goal is to reclaim the glory and success he enjoyed at the peak of his fame.

“We are thrilled to team up with legendary actor, Patrick Warburton, who is a perfect fit to lead and produce this fascinating movie, THE UNEARTHLY,” said Centerboro Productions’ President, Beninati. “The film is a frightening thrill-ride with a comedic edge, a story twist that the audiences will not see coming, and has a massive global appeal.”

Added Sternfeld, “I’m so excited to partner with Centerboro Productions and super talent Patrick Warburton on this fantastic project. The script has all the makings of a wild comedy-horror combo. Having always loved films like THE CABIN IN THE WOODS and SHAUN OF THE DEAD – I know we are prepping to bring another original gem to this genre.”

A veteran character actor, Warburton has been seen over the years in films like Ted 1 & 2 and Get Smart, also lending his voice to animated classics like The Emperor’s New Groove. A regular presence on Fox’s enduringly popular animated comedy Family Guy, the actor has most recently appeared on the live-action front in the dramedy The Duel with Dylan Sprouse. He also recently shot Christmas Telethon, a comedy to be released later this year.

Past Centerboro projects on which we’ve reported include Michelle Danner’s sci-fi action thriller Helios and the sci-fi action thriller Convergence starring Peter Facinelli.

Warburton is represented by Gersh; Sternfeld by the Law Office of Robert L. Seigel; and Beninati by the Law Offices of Marilyn G. Haft.
