Patrick J. Adams took to social media to apologize for sharing Suits throwback photos amid the ongoing actors strike.

Earlier this week, the actor, who played Mike Ross, was reminiscing on his time in the legal drama by sharing photos with several of his former co-stars, including Meghan Markle, Sarah Rafferty, Gabriel Macht, Rick Hoffman and more.

Adams has since deleted the posts and wrote on his Instagram Stories, “The last couple of days I foolishly and thoughtlessly let a trip down Suits memory lane distract me from the very real and ongoing fight everyone in @sagaftra continues to wage in its effort to win our membership realistic 21st Century compensation and protections.”

The performers’ union SAG-AFTRA has been on strike since July 14 after contract negotiations faltered with studios and streamers. During the strike, union members are not allowed to promote any projects under SAG-AFTRA’s contract.

“It was an embarrassing oversight for which I’m incredibly sorry,” Adams added. “So grateful to those who gently and swiftly course corrected me here. And I look forward to continuing the fight in the days and weeks ahead.”

The posts in question included one behind-the-scenes photo with Markle and Rafferty, which he captioned, “I miss my friends.” Another post featured a carousel of shots with Markle, Macht, Hoffman, Max Topplin and Gina Torres, with the caption, “Each and every one of them.” Days later, he also shared two additional Instagram carousels that included photos from the show.

In recent months, Suits has made a resurgence after the popular show was added to Netflix. The series follows brilliant college dropout Mike Ross (Adams) who finds himself working with Harvey Specter (Macht), one of New York City’s best lawyers. Along the way, he also finds a romantic spark with the law firm’s best paralegal Rachel Zane (Markle).

The show scored nine seasons before ending in 2019. Adams and Markle ended up leaving the show following season seven, though Adams did return for the finale.

All nine seasons have been streaming on Peacock but when the first eight seasons dropped on Netflix in June, it led to a spike in viewership. The series has not only topped Nielsen’s weekly rankings for nine straight weeks on the streaming TV charts, but it also set a Nielsen record for the most consecutive weeks over 3 billion minutes of viewing at seven.

“The amount of exposure that we’ve had since getting on Netflix, I never in a million years could have anticipated,” Suits creator Aaron Korsh told The Hollywood Reporter in August. “Something was happening even before it started on Netflix, and then Netflix just took it and amplified it by a billion.”
