Patrick Duffy and Nyle DiMarco to guest-star on Station 19 season 2 finale
Station 19 is about to turn up the heat with its slate of guest stars.
ABC announced Thursday that Patrick Duffy and Nyle DiMarco will appear on the Shondaland firefighting drama’s season 2 finale, which airs May 16.
Duffy, who is best known for his role as Bobby Ewing on the original Dallas, will play Terry, a salt-of-the-earth guy who teams up with the Station 19 crew in a crisis. His fate on the series might be short-lived, as his character description ominously reads, “He is generous, loving and confident — but it’s that confidence that might be his downfall.”
DiMarco, meanwhile, won over audiences in 2015 when he became the second male winner and first deaf contestant on America’s Next Top Model. He went on to win season 22 of Dancing With the Stars, and he has guested on Switched at Birth and Difficult People. DiMarco will portray Dylan, a brave, talented firefighter who also happens to be deaf — and has worked that much harder to prove himself. He becomes “very hard to forget” for one of the Station 19 team.
Station 19 is a spin-off of ABC’s long-running medical drama Grey’s Anatomy and follows the lives of a group of Seattle firefighters, including former Grey’s recurring character Ben Warren (Jason George). Station 19 and Grey’s will cross over again on May 2 before hurtling toward the guest-studded finale.
It has yet to be announced whether Station 19 will return for a third season, though the series expected to be back as part of ABC’s TGIT block. If it does return, however, it will be without showrunner Stacy McKee, who is departing the show, which Shondaland and ABC have confirmed.
“After working underneath the Shondaland umbrella for over 15 straight years, Stacy’s deal is up and she is taking the opportunity to move ahead in a new direction,” said Shondaland vice president Kristin Robinson in a statement. “Stacy feel she’s accomplished what she set out to do, which was to successfully launch the Grey’s Anatomy spin-off, Station 19, through two complete seasons.” The Hollywood Reporter broke the news Wednesday.
