Patricia Altschul Shared Throwback Photos from a Past Met Gala and We're Obsessed

Patricia Altschul knows style.

On May 6, on the night of the 2024 Met Gala held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, the Southern Charm-er celebrated the evening with some old photos of her own from when she used to attend the star-studded affair.

"I started going to the Gala in 1995 with my husband Arthur [Altschul]," Patricia began in her lengthy Instagram post which showed her in a gorgeous black gown with former Vogue editor-at-large and fashion writer André Leon Talley.

Patricia continued in her post about her past experience at the Met Gala in 2005, noting she went to the affair with Talley when he invited her as her plus one.

"I wore a Chanel couture ballgown by Karl Lagerfeld which André helped me construct," she continued. "Back when I attended it was a very different event, the participants consisted mainly of art lovers, museum directors, art historians, curators, art collectors, and generally all those who attended did so because of their love of art. Men wore tuxedos and women wore beautiful gowns and jewels."

Patricia concluded her post: "Since the year 2000, it changed into a Hollywood event and the fashion became more outrageous and over the top."

The Southern Charm matriarch definitely took our breath away with these old photos, showing how she paired her tiered black strapless Chanel gown with beautifully coiffed hair and a diamond necklace.

One word: stunning!

In addition to her Met Gala photos, Patricia also recently shared a peek at her past by sharing several photos of mini horses and her former butler, Michael Kelcourse.

"When I lived at Southerly on Long Island, I rescued a pair of mini horses from a gas station. When I took them to the equine vet, Beau was found to be a pure Appaloosa and Maggie part Appaloosa," Patricia began in a post that featured several photos of the adorable ponies at her old home and Micahel feeding them "carrots and apples as treats."

She continued: "I had a pavilion and paddock built for them on the grounds and trainers came twice a week to teach them how to pull a small cart. I hadn’t driven a car in thirty years but I did manage to take the mini horse-drawn cart all around the neighborhood!"
