‘Partridge Family’ Relative Jack Cassidy Tries Out for ‘The Voice’

Eighteen-year-old Jack Cassidy, nephew of David and Shaun “Da Doo Ron Ron” Cassidy, son of Patrick Cassidy, and grandson of The Partridge Family matriarch, Shirley Jones, tried out for The Voice Monday night.

Cassidy is a Christian worship leader from Westlake, CA. He sang a slow version of Joan Osborne’s heavenly song “One of Us,” which got the attention of Adam Levine and Alicia Keys, as both coaches turned their chairs.

Levine praised Cassidy’s performance as passionate over perfect saying, “There is such an incredible, passionate commitment to every single word that you sing, and I don’t think there’s something that’s more important than that. There were moments that weren’t perfect, but that’s what life is like, and that’s what singing is like too. Like, there’s always gonna be imperfections. That, to me, that’s what makes somebody great.”

Unfortunately for Levine, Keys won over Cassidy by gushing over his piano skills. “This is my first time seeing someone actually choose to play only the piano, just you, which is obviously, you know, totally my heart,” she said. “There is nothing like being able to just play the piano and sing what you feel.”

Cassidy chose Keys, leaving Levine to wonder why nobody favors him.

The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on NBC.
