Paris wax museum says it's working to fix Dwayne Johnson figure after skin tone complaints

Dwayne Johnson's request is being answered.

The Musee de Grévin, a wax museum in France, announced Tuesday on Instagram that it is in the process of rectifying the actor's concerns about his statue, namely its noticeably fair skin tone.

Addressing "L'affaire Dwayne Johnson," museum director Yves Delhommeau appeared in a video next to the wax figure and explained that he and his colleagues were aware of the discourse and critiques surrounding the piece. By way of explanation, he noted that it was evident once the museum received the completed figured and got it in the light, they were surprised to find how pale the skin tone was and knew it needed to be improved.

Delhommeau also explained that the painting and construction of these wax figures, particularly their skin tones, is quite complicated. When using photos of Johnson as a model to paint the figure, he said, each image, depending on its lighting, was very different. But the museum is continuing to refine the figure and its process.

Johnson had weighed in on the controversy over the waxwork Monday, after some observers accused the museum of whitewashing. "For the record, I'm going to have my team reach out to our friends at Grévin Museum, in Paris France so we can work at 'updating' my wax figure here with some important details and improvements- starting with my skin color," Black Adam star wrote. "And next time I'm in Paris, I'll stop in and have a drink with myself."

Delhommeau concluded his own video by welcoming Johnson to the City of Light and the museum to make good on his offer to share a drink with his statue.
