I think we've all been made aware that Paris Hilton is a woman with layers, but this is perhaps the first time I'm seeing the layer of Paris Hilton that does edgy, semi-androgynous fashion. Her usual thing is excessive, occasionally campy girliness. See “Happy National Unicorn Day!”

FASHION TRUST U.S. Awards 2024 - Arrivals

April 9 was the Fashion Trust US awards, and Hilton arrived wearing not so much a dress as a dress's skeleton. The outer layer of the Simple Life star's all-black Mugler ensemble was mostly cutouts, giving it a structured, cagelike look. Under the skirt she wore sheer black tights—with the seam in front rather than the back—and black pumps. She finished the ’fit with a patent leather bag and oversized sunglasses.

Instead of her usual long blonde curls, Hilton wore her hair in a sleek ponytail, with one long face-framing piece to the side. Her makeup was equally moody, with a plum-nude lip and subtle smoky eye under the shades. For a Paris Hilton look, this is shockingly short on sequins, jewels, or anything that could be remotely described as Barbiecore.

But this isn't the first time Hilton has reinvented herself or her look and it probably won't be the last. Now, that would be truly surprising.
