Paris Hilton Celebrates Nicole Richie's 42nd Birthday with Sweet Tribute: 'Lucky to Have You in My Life!'

"When I look back on my life, so many of my most memorable and special memories were with you," Hilton wrote in her post dedicated to Richie

Paris Hilton is celebrating a “lifetime of friendship” with Nicole Richie.

The “Stars are Blind” singer, 42, wished her former Simple Life costar a happy birthday with a sentimental tribute on Instagram to their decades-long friendship. In doing so, Hilton shared a collection of photos of the pair together over the years.

Hilton started out her Instagram carousel with what appeared to be a more recent photo of the pair at her wedding to husband Carter Reum in 2021. In the snap, Hilton, in her wedding dress, and Richie, in a black dress, smiled for a photograph together on the dance floor.

A second photo further in the carousel showed just how much fun they had at the event as they were snapped laughing with an arm around each other’s waist.

There was also no shortage of pictures of the two of them on their popular reality show The Simple Life, with Hilton sharing a photo from one of their season promos in matching business suits and posing in casual wear on a farm. She also included a shot from one of the episodes, where the two grocery-shopped together. Additionally, there was a sweet snap of Richie kissing Hilton on the cheek.

Hilton posted several black and white throwback photos as well from when they were kids, including one where they posed side by side on a swing set and another where they twinned out in matching fairy costumes.

“Happy Birthday @NicoleRichie! 🎈🎂🎈 Words can’t describe how grateful I am for our lifetime of friendship.🥰,” Hilton captioned the post. “When I look back on my life, so many of my most memorable and special memories were with you.🥹”

“No one makes me laugh the way you do, you are one of the most hilarious people on the planet.🤣 You are so much fun to be around.💗 You light up every room you walk into and have a heart of gold.💖,” she continued. “So lucky to have you in my life! Can't wait to make more memories together!👯‍♀️ Sana saaaaa😹 Love you forever💕 ✨.”

She concluded the post with the hashtags “Thats Hot” and “Silly And Billy,” which are references to their former reality show.

The childhood friends, who starred on The Simple Life from 2003 to 2007, have had their fair share of ups and downs throughout the years. Hilton and Richie infamously had a falling out in 2005, which played out on the show and reportedly inspired Hilton's 2006 song “Jealousy.”

The pair have since mended their friendship. However, Simple Life fans shouldn't expect a revival anytime soon — if ever.

“That show was what it was, and it was so much fun,” Richie told Entertainment Weekly in 2020. “But that concept wouldn’t even work in this moment because, remember, we’d leave our lives for a month, and we didn’t have any phones. No phones in this day and age just doesn’t work!”
