Paris Hilton‘s birthday tribute to pal Nicole Richie this year is rife with callbacks to their time as reality-TV co-stars.

Hilton marked Richie’s 42nd birthday Thursday with a series of photos from various eras of their friendship, including several from the run of their series The Simple Life.

Simple Life fans will recognize several of the shots in the accompanying carousel as moments and/or publicity photos from the show.

The Simple Life premiered in 2003 and ran for five seasons — three on Fox, followed by two on E! — and revolved around the concept of having rich-girl besties Hilton and Richie perform average-joe jobs, despite never having worked a day in their charmed lives.

A falling-out in 2005 led Hilton to issue a statement confirming that “Nicole and I are no longer friends… Nicole knows what she did, and that’s all I’m ever going to say about it.” They later repaired the relationship in the intervening years and, as Hilton’s first photo shows, Richie was a guest at her 2022 wedding to Carter Reum.
