With so many streaming services and such huge catalogues, it's tough to choose your viewing. But we're here to help when it comes to what to watch on Paramount Plus, with particular attention to the new arrivals in May 2024.
And there are some big TV shows on the way, with the headline spots taken up by two of the most iconic programmes of the 1990s. Buffy the Vampire Slayer and The X-Files are both landing on the service this month, allowing you to relive the glory days of small screen sci-fi/fantasy storytelling.
But there's plenty more material heading to Paramount+ this month, so let's dive in and have a closer look at what to expect.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer | 3 May
If you grew up in the 1990s, you'll likely have spent many happy and raucous hours in the company of Buffy Summers. Sarah Michelle Gellar became an icon of the era with her portrayal of the teenage girl reluctantly granted the powers of a 'Slayer', tasked with defending humanity against evil forces under the stewardship of her mentor Giles (Anthony Head).

The show rode a wave of cult sci-fi/fantasy entertainment in the 90s and became one of the standout examples of the phenomenon. All seven seasons are now landing on Paramount+, so there has never been a better time to dive back into this world.
The X-Files | 13 May
At the same time Buffy was slashing her way through vampires, Mulder and Scully became the best possible investigators for when there's something strange in your neighbourhood. David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are the FBI agents responsible for investigating extra-terrestrial phenomena on Earth. Of course, there's also plenty of romantic intrigue between the two lead characters.

The X-Files returned to screens in 2016, almost 15 years after the original run came to an end. Two more seasons dropped as part of the revival. Paramount+ is releasing the series throughout May, with the first four seasons landing on 13 May.
Insomnia | 23 May
With her spectacular work in This Is England and Line of Duty, Vicky McClure cemented herself as the sort of actor worth watching in absolutely anything. In this adaptation of Sarah Pinborough's thriller novel, McClure plays a career woman who stops sleeping just before her 40th birthday and fears she might be on the verge of a psychotic breakdown similar to the one her mother experienced at the same age.
It's a fascinating premise and one that looks set to offer McClure exactly the sort of complex, psychological showcase she relishes. This is more than enough to keep you going while we wait for news on a third series of Trigger Point.
