Paramount Network Gives Series Order to ‘Yellowstone’ Creator Taylor Sheridan’s New Drama, ‘Mayor of Kingstown’

Paramount Network has given a series order to the drama “Mayor of Kingstown” from “Yellowstone” creator Taylor Sheridan, the network announced Tuesday during the Television Critics Association press tour.

At the same time, the Viacom cable network also announced that it has picked up a second season of the Sheridan-produced unscripted series “The Last Cowboy” and released a new teaser (below) for the upcoming third season of “Yellowstone,” featuring new cast member Josh Holloway.

Set in a small Michigan town where the only industry remaining are federal, state and private prisons, “Mayor of Kingstown” follows the McClusky family, the power brokers between the police, criminals, inmates, prison guards and politicians in a city completely dependent on prisons and the prisoners they contain.

The series is described as “a stark and brutal look at the business of incarceration.” Sheridan is co-creator and executive producer on the series alongside Hugh Dillon. David Glasser of 101 Studios also serves as an executive producer.

“The Last Cowboy” is an unscripted series which chronicles the lives of men and women who compete on the regular reining circuit, a western-based competition where riders guide horses through a precise pattern of circles, spins and stops. The six-episode first season premiered in August.

The series is produced for Paramount Network by Truly Original with Glenda Hersh, Steven Weinstock, Michelle Schiefen and Julie “Bob” Lombardi serving as executive producers. Taylor Sheridan, 101 Studios and David C. Glasser serve as executive producers. Tori Socha oversees the production for Paramount Network.
