Paramount Bristol celebrates its 93rd anniversary with a special film

BRISTOL, Tenn. (WJHL) – Paramount Bristol celebrated its 93rd anniversary on Saturday by showcasing a special film, ‘Tonight is the Nite: The Paramount Bristol Story.’

The anniversary celebration commenced with a jazz performance from Tennessee High School students, an organist to welcome guests, and even a red carpet to replicate an authentic Hollywood feel.

News Channel 11 spoke with the Director of Community Relations for the City of Bristol, TN, Jon Luttrell:

“This is the premier of a project that’s been a number of years in the making. Our office has been working with Paramount Bristol to produce really, for the first time, a documentary film exploring the entire history of this building from before it first opened in 1931, after its closure in the late 1970s, and then its reemergence as a community fixture in 1990.”

‘Tonight is the Nite: The Paramount Bristol Story’ is a full-length documentary that took approximately four years to create and features interviews with Marty Stuart, Bill Engvall and others, the Paramount Bristol website said.

“I think the most interesting thing is hearing all of these people who’ve had a connection with the Paramount over the years and just seeing how their stories intertwine with each other. That’s been the most fascinating thing because it seems like no matter which part of the Paramount’s journey you’ve been in, your story connects with someone else, and everyone just seems to have those paramount memories.”

The theater said they are proud of the film.

‘Tonight is the Nite: The Paramount Bristol Story’ will be available on the city’s YouTube page. To view upcoming events and shows, visit Paramount Bristol Home.
