Paramount+ has set the premiere date for the all-new documentary JUNE, which will debut on the streaming platform on January 16th, 2024. Directed by Emmy Award-winner Kristen Vaurio, the film will shine a light on the life and work of the late June Carter Cash — five-time Grammy Award-winning singer, comedian, musician, actor, and author.

JUNE will feature never-before-seen archival footage alongside interviews with Carter Cash, her loved ones, and names like Dolly Parton, Reese Witherspoon, and Willie Nelson. The unprecedented look into Carter Cash’s legacy aims to tell her story beyond her association with her husband, Johnny Cash.

On the significance of directing this story, Vaurio said, “She’s a woman whom many people are aware of, but few know much about her remarkable life and her deep contributions to country music.”

Carlene Carter, Carter Cash’s first daughter, added, “This film offers a great opportunity to realize that June was a star of television and music from an early age — decades before she became ‘Mrs. Johnny Cash.’”

From starring onscreen alongside Robert Duvall and Jane Seymour, to opening for Elvis, and, of course, co-writing “Ring of Fire,” Carter Cash’s accomplishments prove to be both remarkable and yet often overlooked. The film will also offer a larger perspective into the Carter and Cash family’s impact on the history of country music.

Produced by Sandbox Productions, Sony Music Entertainment, and Maxine Productions, the film made its world premiere at DOC NYC Festival on November 12th before finding a home at Paramount+ in the new year.
