Paralyzed Canine Celebrating Birthday with 100 Balloons Is 'Happiest Dog on Earth' — Watch!

"People donated balloons from all over the world, and I hand-wrote all their messages to Scooty," says the enthusiastic dog's owner

Scooty, a dog with special needs, was showered with surprises for her 13th birthday.

The canine, whose hind legs are paralyzed because she was hit by a car as a puppy, celebrated the big day on Feb. 27 with more than 100 balloons. A sweet video shows the rescue canine excitedly barking and running around, bumping the colorful decorations with her nose after they're let loose in her living room.

The pooch's owner, who lives in San Diego, told Storyful, "People donated balloons from all over the world, and I hand-wrote all their messages to Scooty."

A couple weeks before Scooty's 13th birthday celebration, her owner posted footage from the dog's 11th birthday two years ago, for which she'd ordered 30 balloons.

"Look how happy she is!" she wrote. "It was a hit, and she loved popping all the balloons."

Scooty's pet parent added that those who donated money toward this year's decorations would also be contributing to the publication of a children's book honoring the canine character, in addition to getting the chance to see Scooty pop a balloon handwritten with their personal message.

The resulting videos prompted many joyful messages on Scooty's TikTok account, which frequently shows her using a wheelchair to take walks around the neighborhood. The account's bio calls Scooty the "happiest dog on Earth."

Ward achieved the happy milestone with support from McKamey's staff and his new family, Kellyn Murphy and Matt Murphy.

"He'll do it every now and then, but it's getting more frequent," Kellyn told PEOPLE in August. "So he just overall, I think, is getting stronger."
