Pankaj Tripathi is gearing up to portray the former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in his upcoming film, Main Atal Hoon. The film will show the life and political journey of the former Prime Minister, a three-time leader of India. The recently released teaser also revealed the Main Atal Hoon’s release date, which is January 19, 2024.

Tripathi, who steps into the shoes of the iconic leader, shared the teaser on his Instagram handle on December 19, 2023. The teaser offers an intriguing glimpse into Vajpayee’s life. The trailer will be releasing on December 20, 2023.

Showcasing key moments such as his interactions with LK Advani and the formation of their political party, Pankaj captioned the teaser, “It’s time to witness the rise of India’s greatest visionary! Teaser Out Now. #MainATALHoon trailer releasing tomorrow. In cinemas 19th January 2024.”

As mentioned earlier, it introduces the actor in the role of the former PM, capturing not just his appearance but also his distinct speaking style and attire. While not an exact replica, Tripathi’s portrayal encapsulates the essence of Atal Bihar Vajpayee. The teaser also features a notable moment where Pankaj echoes Vajpayee’s famous kamal remark, declaring, “Dalo ke iss dal-dal k bech, ek kamal khilana hoga (we have to bring a change).”

The upcoming film is directed by Ravi Jadhav, who is known for his National Award-winning Marathi films. However, the rest of the cast details have been kept under wraps. Aside from that, Pankaj’s commitment to the role goes beyond the screen, as he revealed a unique aspect of his preparation. During the 60-day shoot for the movie, he adhered to a diet consisting solely of khichdi, which he prepared on his own.

The actor also shared how it is an honor to play such an iconic politician. He said, “It’s my honor to portray such a humane politician on screen. He was not just a politician but so much more, he was an excellent writer and a renowned poet. Getting to be in his shoes is nothing but a privilege for an actor like me.”
