As a means of further expanding its corporate relationships both within and beyond the Coachella Valley, the Palm Springs International Film Festival announced Nov. 15 that it had entered a new partnership with sports and entertainment venues developer Oak View Group (OVG).

Oak View Group joins a slate of other partners that have helped grow the film festival into one of the biggest and most prestigious film gatherings in North America.

With a prominent global footprint of its own, OVG operates more than 300 venues across the globe, including the Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert. Founded in 2015 by Tim Leiweke and Irving Azoff, OVG is a leader in full-service live entertainment and hospitality, with 11 major new arenas either open or under development.

“OVG is here to support both the people and events that are important to the residents of the Coachella Valley, and it is clear that the festival is not only important, but also has grown solid roots in the greater Palm Springs region for the past three-and-half decades,” said Dan Griffis, president of global partnerships for Oak View Group.

“The impact of Oak View Group here in the Coachella Valley is strong and growing, anchored by the massive draw of Acrisure Arena, which not only serves as home to the Coachella Valley Firebirds, but as a world-class performance venue which has already hosted such top artists as Sting, Peter Gabriel, The Eagles, Journey and Lizzo,” said festival chairman Nachhattar Singh Chandi. “This is a significant partnership for us with the mutual goal of bringing greater awareness to the festival and exposure to the greater Coachella Valley.”

The 35th annual Palm Springs International Film Festival will take place from Jan. 4-15, 2024. Learn more at psfilmfest.org. For more on Oak View Group, visit oakviewgroup.com.

Consider volunteering for the Palm Springs International Film Festival

The Palm Springs International Film Festival welcoms more than 136,000 enthusiastic filmgoers to Palm Springs every January. In June, moviegoers and volunteers enjoy ShortFest. In order to welcome the thousands of filmgoers and hundreds of filmmakers, the festival needs hundreds of volunteers to staff theater venues, help in the office and assist with a myriad of other tasks. For each shift worked, volunteers receive a voucher that can be exchanged for a ticket to view a film during the festival. Complete the volunteer application at psfilmfest.org or contact the festival office at (760) 322-2930.
