Jodie Schmitz and Sunny Hawkins were chairwomen for the afternoon, which, in addition to the luncheon, included a wine reception and a silent auction, a live auction conducted by Neil Saffer and local CBS-12 News anchor Liz Quirantes once again serving as the celebrity emcee.

The tug-at-the-heartstrings moment came when guest speaker Jessica Jelks spoke of her two sons, former residents of Grandma's Place who became her own through adoption.

Joan O’Connell, board chair of Grandma's Place, was the honorary chairwoman.

Committee members included Jane Bruno, Suzy Burrows, Amy Considine, Margaret Donnelley, Manda Galin, Helena Guest, Patti Hadden, Barbara Hollender, Eleanor Jones, Mary Liguori, Mary Lewis Moens, Toni O’Brien, Amy Quattlebaum, Dina Rubio, Jaime Taylor and Monique VandeKamp.

More than 100 people attended.

Proceeds from the afternoon assist Grandma’s Place in its mission to provide shelter and loving care to children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect, and to provide respite care for young children with disabilities, while offering support to their parents and caregivers to maximize each child’s safety and success.
