John “Jack” Otley Middlebrooks and Shannon Cooney Boyles

Mr. and Mrs. Kevan Kenneth Boyles of Palm Beach announce the engagement of their daughter, Shannon Cooney Boyles, to John “Jack” Otley Middlebrooks, son of the Mr. and Mrs. Donald Marsh Middlebrooks of Jupiter.

The bride-to-be, a third-generation Palm Beacher, is the granddaughter of Mildred Boyles of West Palm Beach and Lincoln, Rhode Island, and the late Kenneth George Boyles.

She also is the granddaughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. James Francis Cooney, who resided in Palm Beach for more than 30 years.

The future bridegroom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harry Allison Johnston II, who were residents of Palm Beach County for more than 60 years. He also is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Billy Moore Middlebrooks of Windermere.

The future bride attended Rosarian Academy and Cardinal Newman High School.

She is a graduate of the University of Virginia, where she earned a bachelor of arts degree in American Studies. She works in executive operations at Block Inc., a financial technology company formerly known as Square Inc.

The future bridegroom attended Limestone Creek Elementary School, Jupiter Middle School and Jupiter High school.

He graduated from Davidson College, where he played football, with a bachelor of arts degree in history. He is a senior director at Alvarez & Marsal, a management consulting firm.

A January wedding is planned at St. Edward Church in Palm Beach.
