It’s been 25 years since Sylvaine Micheletto joined Café L’Europe as wait captain, though that milestone hadn’t occurred to her until someone recently asked her about her tenure at the South County Road restaurant.

“I just don’t think about the years because I love what I do,” Micheletto told the Daily News. “The best part — the most inspiring part — is our customers. They are wonderful.”

Monaco-born Micheletto joined Café L’Europe as wait captain in 1997 after being a manager for a decade at the former Jo’s Restaurant, a longtime Continental eatery on the island until 2003.

The world of fine dining has been a part of Micheletto’s life since childhood. While growing up in New York, where she attended the Lycée Français, her family owned restaurants and a catering business, she said.

At Café L’Europe, her myriad duties range from interacting with guests to maintaining a thorough understanding of the menu and a frequently changing repertoire of daily specials.

Tomato tartare with chive vinaigrette and filet mignon au poivre are among her favorite dishes at the restaurant.

“The menu is fabulous,” Micheletto said. “But interacting with customers is everything.”

Field of Greens grows

Elsewhere on the island, Field of Greens, which opened in Palm Beach in 2019, has expanded again.

With longtime locations in West Palm Beach and Wellington, a fourth location debuted in mid-June in North Palm Beach at 11940 U.S. 1.

All Field of Greens locations, including on Royal Poinciana Way, feature two new menu items this summer, each priced at $10.50.

The Tuscan Wrap includes turkey, hummus, mozzarella, sundried tomato, field greens and balsamic vinaigrette. Turkey, guacamole, Swiss cheese, cucumbers, tomatoes and sprouts are featured in a new sandwich called the Juno Beach.

“Summertime is when I get to play with and dive into new recipes,” Field of Greens owner Hess Musallet told the Daily News. “I have a great smoked Salmon lox bagel sandwich that I am excited to add onto the menu as well, along with some great vegan/gluten-free baked goods, new salads and smoothies.”
