Pair of Young Oklahoma Siblings Found Dead in Murder-Suicide

Police say the 17-year-old boy and 14-year-old girl both attended Broken Arrow Public Schools

A pair of young siblings were found dead at a home in Oklahoma over the weekend in what authorities believe was a murder-suicide.

Officers were called to a home in Broken Arrow, a suburb of Tulsa, Sunday afternoon after a report of a suicide, the Broken Arrow Police Department said in a press release. When they arrived, they found the bodies of a 17-year-old boy and 14-year-old girl.

Police believe the boy died by suicide, while the girl’s manner of death is unclear. The Oklahoma Medical Examiner’s Office is investigating the cause of death for both victims, who have yet to be publicly identified.

Investigators said the two are siblings, and they suspect the boy killed his sister before dying by suicide, according to the Kansas City Star, KJRH and News on 6. Police added that both victims attended Broken Arrow Public Schools.

“This is one of the hardest calls that officers have to go on. Every time we talk about deceased kids, this is something that impacts us deeply,” Broken Arrow Police Capt. Josh McCoy said, per News on 6.

A neighbor told KJRH that the children were "good kids" and that their parents are "wonderful neighbors."

As the investigation continues, police said in the release that its department is “working with the school district to ensure necessary resources are available in the aftermath of this tragic incident.”
