Padma Lakshmi's daughter is teaching her a thing or two about modern slang.

On Monday, April 8, the celebrity chef shared a video on her Instagram of a conversation with her daughter Krishna, whom she calls Little Hands, as the two talked about what slang Lakshmi should know.

In the video, Lakshmi asked what other slang she should know, to which her 14-year-old daughter replied, “Don’t say sus. I’ve heard you say that.”

“It’s short for suspect, or suspicious,” Lakshmi said, before Krishna interrupted, “I know bro, but it comes from…”

“I’m not a bro,” Lakshmi responded. “Bruh.”

Krishna went on to say it makes her "cringe" to hear her mom attempt slang.

“Okay. Makes you cringe, or like cringe?” Lakshmi asked.

“Cringe," Krishna confirmed.

“Okay. What is not embarrassing to say that you think your mother should know? I’ll wait," Lakshmi replied to her teen.

"I mean I think there’s a difference between what I should be... what slang I should be using and what slang you should be using," her daughter responded. For her part, Lakshmi challenged her daughter's assertion by asking why she thinks that.

"Because when you say certain things, it sounds odd coming out of your mouth," Krishna said.

The former Top Chef host shares Krishna with businessman Adam Dell, whom she dated off and on from 2009-2021.

In February, the proud mom shared a series of photos to her Instagram in honor of her daughter Krishna's 14th birthday. Posting a few throwback pictures of the teenager, Lakshmi took a minute to reflect on how proud she is of her daughter in her caption.

"There are thousands of words I could say about how proud I am to be your mother and to watch you grow. Happy birthday to my #littlehands!" Lakshmi sweetly wrote.

While walking the red carpet at the Emmy Awards in January, the celebrity chef was photographed with Krishna. Wearing a bright green Marchesa dress, Lakshmi draped her arm around her daughter, who wore a black dress with feathers around the bottom.

Both Lakshmi and Krishna wore their hair down, posing for the cameras as they leaned into one another during their mother-daughter date night.
