Padma Lakshmi Takes Fans Behind the Scenes of Her Emmy Awards Prep

Lakshmi earned Creative Arts Emmy nominations this year for both 'Top Chef' and 'Taste the Nation'

Padma Lakshmi is getting ready for her big night!

The former Top Chef host, 53, recently gave her fans a glimpse into her preparations for the upcoming 2024 Creative Arts Emmys as she was whisked around New York City in a private car. She explained in her Instagram Reel that she was on the hunt for dress options for the awards ceremony, which will take place on Saturday and Sunday.

The TV host is nominated for both Top Chef and Taste the Nation with Padma Lakshmi.

"I'm going to an Emmy fitting," she says in the Reel. “It’s the week before the Emmys, Creative Arts Emmys, that is, but we’re going to hopefully try and find a nice, or a couple of nice Emmys dresses and I’m really excited with one fitting."

“And now I’m going to an atelier and I can’t tell you who it is," she added.

On Saturday, Lakshmi appeared to jokingly tease that she's going to make a bold statement on the Emmys red carpet. She shared a video on her Instagram Story of a peacock opening its feathers to display a rainbow of color.

"Me at my Emmy fitting," she captioned the clip.

Lakshmi made the surprising announcement in June that she would be leaving Top Chef after 17 years and 19 seasons of hosting the show. She began her tenure on the Bravo show after Katie Lee Biegel left.

"After much soul searching, I have made the difficult decision to leave Top Chef,” the host and judge wrote on Instagram at the time. “Having completed a glorious 20th season as host and executive producer, I am extremely proud to have been part of building such a successful show."

“I feel it’s time to move on and make space for Taste the Nation, my books and other creative pursuits," Lakshmi added of her award-winning series, now in its second season.

Kristen Kish, a Top Chef favorite who won in season 10, was announced as the show’s new host in July 2023. She will join judges Gail Simmons and Tom Colicchio in the upcoming season as they watch chefs from across the country battle it out in Wisconsin.
