Paddle the Navesink and more things to do this week at the Jersey Shore

Row, row, row your boat.

Navesink Maritime Heritage Association presents its annual Community Paddle the Navesink Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at Maple Cove in Red Bank.

Maple Cove is at the north end of Maple Avenue, behind the OceanFirst Bank headquarters.

While it's free to all families, youth and adults, a $5 donation is requested.

The Navesink Maritime Heritage Association is a nonprofit organization "dedicated to engaging Eastern Monmouth County with maritime and water-related historical, skill-building, environmental and recreational activities, and encouraging responsible use of the Navesink esturary."

The group offers educational programs, including wooden boat building and restoration.

Squeeze, Psychedelic Furs at Stone Pony Summer Stage

Two classic UK bands are coming to Asbury Park.

The Psychedelic Furs, known for the hits "Love My Way," "Pretty in Pink" and "Heartbreak Beat," released "Made of Rain" in 2020, the group's first album in almost 30 years.

The band is touring with Squeeze and playing Sunday at the Stone Pony Summer Stage.

On its website, Squeeze, known for the hits "Hourglass" and "Tempted," is promoting the two-volume EP "Best of Squeeze Live at the Filmore." In 2022, the band released the EP "Food For Thought," with profits going toward UK food banks.

Celebrate Hank Williams' 100th birthday

It's a Hank on the roof birthday bash.

The 100th birthday of the great Hank Williams is Sept. 17, and local talent is headed to the roof of Bell Works in Holmdel on Sunday to celebrate. Pat Guadagno and His Lonesome Cowboys, Jackson Pines, Stormin’ Norman Seldin, Michael Patrick, Cranston Dean and more will play the music of the legendary singer-songwriter.

“You’ll hear ‘em all, like you never have before,” Guadagno said.

Williams hits include “Your Cheatin’ Heart,” “Hey, Good Lookin' “ and “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry,” and there's many more. All were composed and performed by the time Williams was 29. That was his age on New Year's Day in 1953 when he passed away on due to heart failure.

Ocean Grove Fall Flea Market

Feel like shopping? Head to Ocean Grove on Saturday for the town's annual Fall Flea Market, taking place along Ocean Pathway.

One of Ocean Grove's most popular events, the market will feature vendors selling items both new and old, plus plenty of stuff for kids. Then head downtown for lunch and more shopping, if you like.

There is no admission charge for the flea market, which will take place rain or shine.

Lakewood Historical Museum lecture series

The Lakewood Historical Society and Lakewood Heritage Commission will host the first part of a lecture series from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the Lakewood Historical Museum, 500 Country Club Drive (Pine Park).

Ruth Anne McClelland, a 40-year member of the National Society of Daughters of American Revolution, will speak about “A History of Medicine in America and Women in New Jersey during the American Revolution,” emphasizing the impact of the Revolutionary War on the practice of medicine.

The Lakewood Historical Museum is open from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays, with tours provided by docents. Admission is free, but donations are accepted.

OUT in the Park

June may be Pride month, but there's never a bad time to show your true colors. The Southern New Jersey LGBTQA+ community will come together for the 15th annual OUT in the Park Jersey Gay Pride Festival from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at Cooper River Park in Cherry Hill, located at the intersections of Airport Highway and North Park Drive (next to the Camden County Boathouse).

This year's theme is Love Out Loud. Headline performer is drag sensation Brittany Lynn. There will be plenty of food and entertainment.

Panels from the AIDS Memorial Quilt also will be shown.
