Carolyn Newman has been named the head of scripted television and production at Will Packer Media, where she will develop and produce the company’s television projects and work with show creators, writers and producers.

“Carolyn’s highly respected reputation throughout the industry is well deserved,” said company founder Will Packer. “She’s got a keen eye for material and talent, which makes her an incredible addition to our team.”

Newman was most recently director of original series at Netflix, where she developed 17 original series, from “Anatomy of a Scandal” to “Feel Good” and had a hand in acquiring Darren Star’s “Emily in Paris.” Prior to that, she served as senior vice president of scripted programming at Entertainment One, expanding the company’s scripted TV business. Newman has previously held development and production roles at Amazon Studios and Canadian production company Sphere Media Plus.

“I am so excited to be joining Will, Alix and the team,” said Newman. “Will is a visionary producer, with exceptional taste and deep talent relationships. I have immense respect for how they have produced such commercial and critical successes and am thrilled to be spearheading scripted television production for Will Packer Media.”

Newman will report to Will Packer Media president Alix Baudin.

“Carolyn is an accomplished creative executive who knows how to develop and produce great stories to audiences worldwide in collaboration with talented producers and show runners,” said Baudin. “We are thrilled to have her join our team as we ramp up our development and production for 2021 and beyond.”
